The Influence of the Blue Ray of the Sunlight and of the Blue Colour of the Sky
Sitting, as you do, and contemplating the serene Lake Brienz and its marvelous color, and it occurred to me that it might actually be bluer than the sky.
What is bluer? What is bluest? A nonsense question of course, but theoretically?
This proved surprisingly difficult, and involved me reading about the functionality and structure of cone cells in the human eye, the design of the CIELAB color space, and just how color spaces work in general, which is the fun part for me personally. Anyways
...and so, after a few hours of work, I am forced to conclude: the water is not bluer than the blue sky, although it is bluer than the clouds, which might be cheating. The mountains might be bluer than the sky? Also, check out the lizard: perfectly camouflaged to S cells by being the same color blue as the waves behind it. Anyways the sky, the mountains, the water, they are all very pretty.
